Terms of entry

1. Entering the examination

By starting the examination you accept these terms. You must enter your own name, email address and telephone number, exactly as they appear on the identity document you would use to prove who you are.

One attempt is permitted per email address. A further attempt requires our authorisation. Entering under a second address to obtain a second attempt is malpractice.

2. Sitting the examination

• You must sit the examination alone and unaided.
• You may not use notes, dictionaries, translation tools or any other person.
• You may not copy, photograph, record or reproduce any part of the examination.
• You must remain in fullscreen with your camera and microphone active throughout.
• You must not leave the examination window. Doing so is recorded on your attempt.

3. Technical conditions

You are responsible for your own device, connection, camera and microphone. The system check on the instructions page tells you whether your equipment is suitable before you begin.

Where a fault on our side prevents you from completing the examination, we void the attempt and you may sit it again at no charge. Where the fault is with your own equipment or connection, we will consider the circumstances, but we cannot guarantee a further attempt.

4. Results

Reading and Listening are marked automatically. Writing and Speaking are marked by an examiner. The result is normally published within three working days.

The examiner's band is final, subject only to the enquiry on results procedure. We do not negotiate bands.

5. Malpractice

Where we have reasonable grounds to believe the examination has not been sat honestly, we may void the attempt, withhold or withdraw the result, and decline further entries. Where a result has already been issued, we withdraw it from verification and inform any organisation that has verified it.

You will be told what has been found and given the opportunity to respond before a final decision.

6. Liability

Our liability in connection with an entry is limited to the fee paid for that entry. We are not liable for consequential losses, including any decision an institution takes on the basis of a result.
